2017 saw another year of successful partnering with Adobe and their suppliers to help deliver the award winning Summit event at Excel, Europe’s leading digital marketing event.
We have worked as part of the event for a decade, from the days when it could be contained in the Hilton hotel near Paddington. We were filming using tape back then, I still have boxes of them in the secure storage unit at the bottom of the garden. The overdubbing of the odd swearword and the shortening of the presentations was a great challenge, thankfully reduced by the arrival of digital ingest. However, the numbers of events have increased dramatically.
In 2017 we ingested, shortened and uploaded 8 keynote sessions, shortened and uploaded 110 hour long breakout sessions, managed the stills photography and library, filmed and created the highlights reel, filmed and edited 10 in depth interviews.. and other stuff. The amount of data and the speed of throughput is quite remarkable. Thankfully as we now have the technology, the 20 crew and the experience, Summit is less of a challenge than it once was.
Incremental improvements are the way to go and for 2018 we are planning to invest in a new, faster raid system. Not that sexy as far as camera gear goes, but pretty amazing when you see the data torrent rushing by. Look out for our upcoming blog post where you can read all about it!
